About Sabinal
Sabinal is the Spanish word for cypress, a tree that grows in abundance on the banks of the crystal clear Sabinal River, which flows through the center of the town.
Enjoy the clean air, clean rivers and friendly townspeople living and working at the intersection of Highway 90 and FM 187, about half way between San Antonio and Del Rio.
A lot of vacationers and hunters know us as, “the stop light where you turn north” on highway 90 to get to the beautiful Hill Country resorts located in Concan, Frio River, Garner State Park, and Lost Maples State Natural Area.
Sabinal Canyon is well known by hunters for the its abundance of dove, deer, turkey, and wild hogs. With numerous local ranches leased for bow hunting only, Sabinal is considered the Bow Hunting Capitol of Texas.

Visitors and locals enjoy shopping for gifts and antiques and eating at the variety of dining establishments.
The Sabinal Lions Club holds an annual Wild Hog Festival in the spring, drawing in spectators, participants, and vendors for the three day event.
Sabinal is located about 40 miles North of the Eagle Ford Shale oil discovery, oil company employees and their families buy and build homes in Sabinal.
